From the Beginning

EN: We never know for sure what lies ahead and where the road will take us. When we travel, we follow a guideline and have an idea on where we are going, but we mostly let the clues show us the way and a landscape, a local's story or a road sign will take us in a new and interesting location.

EN: Driving towards the "Detunatele" natural reserve, in the Apuseni mountains, we chose a less travelled road and it was a wise decision. On top of the wonderful and picturesque landscape and a clear road (although quite bad), we discovered a weird place, taken out of a surrealist movie, worth visting: The museum of mister Emilian from Almasu Mare.

EN: In a special made building, following mister Emilian's vision, where long rooms end with secret doors and hidden corners, you can find collection of obejcts gathered from all over the world, that are reminders of gone eras and gone people.
EN: Each room has a certain theme which reflects a moment in Romania's history, raging from archeological vestige of far away times to the indutrial ear with its great machines and remarcable progress.

Coplesitoare senzatie...

EN: Mister Emilian was a good guide and he offered infromation about all those objects which he knew by heart, he showed us how some of the weirdest ones work and he insisted that we take photos with many of them, him being the photographer. The museum has an open air section, with two traditional homes and a welcoming yard where you can sit in the shade and take a moment to think of time passing by, objects changing and being left behind to be museum pieces, on how humans always tried to keep themselves busy with something and chased the "better" Quite an overwhelming feeling...
